  14. Rules of the echo

  17.   1. This echo is used to discuss satellite technology regarding 
  18.      moving electronic mail and files, discussion may also include 
  19.      peripherals such as receiving dish specifications and information, 
  20.      receiver systems, uplink/downlink ground network-transfer topology, 
  21.      (as in who-sends-what/when-to-where etc).

  23.   2. The moderators of this echo carry large fire extinguishers
  24.      and will not hesitate to use it immediately upon encountering
  25.      ANY type of flame against another person. Flames and personal
  26.      attacks are prohibited in this echo. Anyone may participate 
  27.      in such discussion as long as they follow the rules and spirit
  28.      of the echo.

  30.   3. Commercial activities are prohibited on the echo. This does not
  31.      prohibit mentioning commercial products and publishing 
  32.      evaluations of such.

  34.   4. Leave the Moderating to the moderators.
  35.  
  36.   5. No high-ASCII characters may be used in messages.
  37.  
  38.   6. The use of taglines is strongly dissuaded. In the event the
  39.      originator of a message finds he/she has an urgent need to
  40.      utilize a tagline, the tagline will only be a short line detailing
  41.      research surnames:

  43.                 Researching: JONES, GREEN, and CALLAWAY
  44.  
  45.      Cutesy taglines add nothing to the value of genealogical research
  46.      being conducted by the message originator.... in fact, they detract
  47.      greatly from the serious purpose of the message content.

  49.      Also, taglines add to the length of messages and therefore add to the
  50.      cost of transferring traffic via continental and intercontinental
  51.      telephone. Again, you are requested to empathize with those who are
  52.      paying the long-distance charges and leave taglines off your messages.

  54.    7. This conference may not be gated to any other network without
  55.       the express consent of the IGA_Net<tm> North American Coordinator
  56.       (440:1/1).

  58.    8. Questions or comments about these rules, the echo, or its management
  59.       should be sent via Netmail to the one of the moderators.
